Community Transportation Program


Swain Public Transit is available to Swain County residents for transportation to

medical appointments, employment sites, adult day care, SCC, etc.

Senior Community Service Employment Program


The program, more commonly known as the SCSEP program, is a program

through the U.S. Department of Labor and Senior Service America, Inc.

to provide training to persons age 55+ that will enable them to get permanent

employment with the community outside the SCSEP program. It creates

community sevice positions to seniors who are considered 125% below the

poverty level and improves existing community services by expanding their services

in libraries, adult and child day care centers, schools, senior centers, recycling

centers, etc.  The State of Franklin SCSEP Program serves the 11 far western

counties of Western North Carolina and the Qualla Boundary,

Congregate Nutrition


The Senior Center is proud to house the Nutrition Site for Congregate Nutrition

which provides a hot lunch for Swain County Residents age 60

years or older.  The only requirement is that you call the

Swain County Senior Center one day ahead to make a reservation

so that sufficient food may be ordered.

Home Delivered Meals


Home Delivered Meals are provided to Swain County residents

60 years of age and older who are home bound and have no other

caregivers to provide a daily hot lunch. These meals are delivered by volunteers

sho donate their time to provide this service to the home

bound residents of Swain County.

Senior Center Daily Activities


Activities that are available at the Swain County Senior Center includes

bingo, music, arts & crafts classes, exercise classes, informational workshops,

visiting music groups, computer classes, card & board games, day trips to

surrounding areas, shopping, etc.
